Why a range, not a score

Twenty questions can show you where you stand, but they can't honestly pin you to one number: a lucky guess or a rushed passage moves a short test far more than a full one. So the diagnostic reports a range, and it's deliberately wider at the bottom, because we'd rather you plan around a score you can beat than one you have to live up to. When you want a single number, a full-length practice exam narrows it to one score.

Questions

Is it really free?

Yes. The diagnostic and its results cost nothing, and you don't need an account or a card to take it. If you want to keep going, the full app starts with a 7-day free trial, and that doesn't need a card either.

Do I need an account?

No. Start it and go. Your sitting is tied to the browser you take it in, so finish it there. You only need an account if you want to save your results.

How accurate is the score?

It's an estimate, which is why it comes as a range: that's what 20 questions can honestly support. Use it as a starting point, for roughly where you are and which skill areas cost you the most. It isn't an official LSAT score, and a full-length practice exam will tell you more.

Can I save my results?

Yes. Sign up from the results page and your diagnostic carries over to your new account automatically: your analytics, question review, and drill recommendations start from it, and you won't be asked to take the diagnostic again. Results you don't save are deleted after 30 days.

How is this different from the official LSAC practice tests?

LSAC's official PrepTests are full-length exams made of real, previously administered LSAT questions, and they're the best way to measure yourself once you're ready to sit a whole test. This diagnostic is a 30-minute starting point: 20 original questions written in the LSAT's format and reviewed by an LSAT expert, not licensed PrepTest questions, that give you a score range and a skill-area breakdown to plan around. Forge180 is not affiliated with LSAC.
